Finding a house that you want to buy can be stressful enough. You would think that when you have found "the one" that things would finally slow down and become relaxing. WRONG!! It's only the beginning my friends.
Once you've found "the one" your next step is to get a loan (or if you might do this before you find "the one" to get pre-approved). If you go to a conventional bank, you might not get as good of a rate as if you went to a mortgage company.
I asked a friend about his mortgage guy, and it sounded like he was pretty good. So, I was about 20 minutes from signing my papers when another friend of mine convinced me to give her mortgage guy a call. It's one of the best calls I've made!
Jody Wright at First Houston Mortgage not only saved me $4,000 dollars from what the other guy was going to charge me, but really helped me understand how this whole process works. He educated me on how to read the market, when to lock in a loan, and how to read a Good Faith Estimate to know if I was getting ripped off or not. The bottom line is that all lenders are selling money, but not only was Jody able to get me the best rate at a better price, but he took the time to explain the whole process.
Since we closed on our house, I have two other friends that have used Jody (one of which is Dean). They, too, felt the same way about his rates and the customer service he delivers. Yes, this is a shameless plug, but when there is a good deal out there for people to get I like to share it. Plus this is my blog and I'll do what I want to, dang it!

I liked the allusion of finding the right house to finding the right girl... then again maybe that's all my single brain is capable of seeing....
