So, I was reading this article from a church's website and I figured by posting this I would get a feeling for how many people still read this blog. Please post, but keep it clean. :)

Still reading, but the link is no good.
The link worked for me, and while I may show some slight ignorance here...she was teaching Hebrew right? As in a language? I mean yes, of course, it is a Biblical language and I'm sure vocabulary was taught in context. But I don't understand why they chose to dismiss her based on "the Bible prohibits women from teaching men in the areas of theology and biblical studies." The reason for hiring seems quite flimsy to me..."a momentary lax in parameters" I mean come on, people!
I strongly believe in women not teaching men in spiritual matters, but Alyssa has a point... it's a language. No matter which side you fall of, I think the prof had a point at the end... SBTS should not have hired her if they were going to deny her tenure later based on gender and not merit.
And I agree also that the biggest point of contention I have with what they did was hiring her and at least giving her the impression she was going to be granted tenure at some point, then changing their minds and her losing her job as a result.
I don't know how I feel about a woman teaching men in seminary in general, so I'll limit my comments to that! :)
